Aging Room Havao – Time Well Spent
Aging Room is a special place. It is a place where tobacco comes to rest before being made into cigars It is also a place where the cigars rest so that the flavors will meld into a singular cigar. The problem with many of the cigars today is that they are made in large quantity. That’s not necessarily bad, it just means that it is hard to use small quantities of great tobacco for one of these cigars. While there is plenty of good tobacco, sometimes it si found in quantities insufficient to make a large run of cigars. So, it is passed over by many vendors. Aging Room cigars was created to take advantage of this special tobacco. The cigars are made in short runs, limited by what is available.
Havao, which is a Cuban term for white with black features, was chosen for this stick since it is not a pure light color cigar but sort of off-white. I’ll tell you that it doesn’t matter what they call this cigar – I call it very good! When you first look at this stick you’ll notice that it has both a head band and a foot band. The bands are simple, but informative. In fact, the back of the band has web site info available in text as well as a QR code. I punched the cigar and lit it without problem. The color is a beautiful light brown, reflecting the Ecuadorean grown Connecticut Shade wrapper. It is smooth, supple and oily.
This cigar is well made. It held a nice long ash of a fine light gray color. It burned very evenly and cleanly for its entire duration. The cigar held a tight edge throughout.
Flavor remained consistent through the smoke. It started off mild and creamy with a coffee taste. That profile carried for the full 45 minute smoke. I thought the cigar was a mild or ‘breakfast’ cigar. It burned cool and light giving it a nice mildness without any bite.
The retail price of this cigar is less than $5.00. That makes it a great value. I enjoyed this as an early morning smoke and would love to have more of these. The only problem is that Aging Room is by nature small batch. That means when they run out there will be no more. So, if you like a mild cigar, or if you want to have a nice cigar to give to someone who is a new smoker, or if you smoke a lot and want to add a nice mild smoke to your humidor, you should pick up some of these sticks. Ah, forget about what you like and who you are. Just get some of these. I promise you’ll love them.
