An Evil Genius Smoking in the White Chapel

White Chapel

This is the second year I’ve noticed Evil Genius at the IPCPR and they continue with their Black and White Chapel line. Very little is published about Evil Genius so there is also little to write. Evil Genius gave me a 5 X 50 White Chapel robusto to review, one of the 4 sizes they offer in this blend ranging from a 6 ¼ X 52 Churchill to a 3.5 X 42 mini.

White Chapel has an interesting blend. The filler is a mixture of a Lancaster Pa. ligero and two ligeros and a seco from the Dominican Republic. The binder is a sun-grown Ecuadorian Sumatra and the wrapper is Habana from the Dominican Republic. This robusto is designed to have full body.

The initial flavor is quite earthy with a robust chocolate/coffee note. There is an undercurrent of sweetness and near the end a nuttiness emerges for a complex flavor profile. The burn edge and ash were average but the smoke volume was very good, as was the draw. It took an hour and 15 minutes to smoke this full bodied cigar and at an SRP of $7.50 is a good value. I found the White Chapel to be superior to the Black and rate it a 4 out of 5.
