Evil Genius Cigars Issues Forth The Dark Chapel

Black ChapelThe evil genius persona is well defined in our movie and book culture. High abilities of evil geniuses are combined with low to non-existent moral compasses to generate conflict with the good. Evil Genius Cigars takes the good/bad image an interesting step further by having black and white labels for their 2 offerings. At the 2015 IPCPR Evil Genius provided me with a sample of the Black Chapel Robusto, a 5 X 50 Maduro with filler from Nicaragua, Dominican Republic and Peru, a Dominican corojo binder grown in Ecuador and Brazilian maduro wrapper aged in rum barrels for 6 months. Tobacco from 5 countries in 5 little inches.

The maduro wrapper delivered the expected sweetness during the entire smoke. The draw and ash were about average but the burn line was very even. The flavor profile was heavy on pepper, joined later by leather and a background of nuts. It took 50 minutes to smoke this medium body cigar. I found it online for $7.50 each, a decent value, and rate the Black Chapel robusto an average score, 3 out of 5. I enjoyed the White Chapel more, but that is another review.
